Bull Pizzle
Bull pizzle is the dried or frozen bovine penis, sold almost entirely into the natural pet treat trade, where the dried product is known as a bully stick. Offal Exp supplies it from Argentine cattle processed at our SENASA-approved plant in Burzaco, Buenos Aires.
About the product
Pizzle is dense fibrous tissue with very little fat. Dried, it becomes extremely hard and takes a dog a long time to work through, which is the whole basis of its market. It is a single-ingredient product with nothing added, and that is how it is sold: pet treat buyers value it precisely because the label has one word on it.
Sizing matters more here than on most offal items. The trade grades by length and thickness, and the finished chew is usually straight or braided depending on the manufacturer. State the format and size band you are buying to, because it drives both price and yield.
Applications
- Natural pet chews and bully sticks — the primary market
- Traditional food use in a small number of markets

Frequently asked questions
What is a bully stick made of?
Bull pizzle. The raw material is cleaned, stretched and dried until hard. Nothing is added; the product is the tissue itself.
Is bull pizzle the same as beef pizzle?
The terms are used interchangeably in the pet trade. We also list beef steer pizzle, which comes from steers rather than bulls and can differ in size and yield. Ask us to quote both if you are unsure which suits your grading.
Is it supplied dried or frozen?
We supply the raw material frozen. Drying is normally carried out by the treat manufacturer, since drying method and finished moisture are part of their own product specification.
Where does it come from?
Argentine cattle, processed at Establishment No. 4407 in Burzaco, Buenos Aires, under SENASA inspection.
Can you grade to length?
Give us the size bands you work to with your enquiry. What we can run is confirmed on the specification sheet issued with your quotation.
